My name is Joel Friesen. I am a graphic artist. Lately I’ve been focusing heavily on web design and web development. I was traditionally taught to create illustrations, graphics and layout.
My artistic influences range from Saturday morning cartoons and comic books, 50’s automobile brochures, to art deco architecture and circus posters of the 1880’s. In other words; it ranges.
My father was a map maker and taught me the joys of understanding the world visually, my mom is an accountant, and from her I learned nothing and still, to this day, remain broke.
The one common element of my own personal work has to be the sense of humor or visual wit I put into my art. I love a sense of play and combing contrasting items to evoke a humorous reaction.
